Job Overview: Norvik Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Operating Theatre Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care before, during, and after surgery, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics. This role requires expertise in perioperative nursing care and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Preoperative Care: Prepare the operating theatre, ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and in working order. Assist in the positioning and preparation of patients for surgery.

·         Intraoperative Duties: Assist the surgical team during procedures, including scrubbing in, maintaining a sterile field, and providing necessary instruments and supplies. Monitor patient vitals and administer medications as required.

·         Postoperative Care: Assist in the transfer of patients to the recovery area, monitor their condition, and provide immediate postoperative care. Ensure proper documentation of patient information and surgical procedures.

·         Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and other medical staff to ensure effective communication and coordination during surgeries. Report any issues or concerns promptly.

·         Safety and Compliance: Adhere to hospital protocols, infection control procedures, and safety regulations. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse with a valid practicing nursing license in Uganda.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, with specialized training in operating theatre procedures preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an operating theatre setting.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient care.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
• Certification: Valid nursing license and certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) are preferred.
